Thanksgiving Pics.

Janie & Jake at their own Thanksgiving table.
(Wonder where she learned to LEAN in the pictures!)
Taylor is so fascinated with Meg and was giving her the sweetest little kisses!
Cute Little Taylor in Nana’s Tupperware Cupboard.

I kept trying to get a family picture for our Christmas card.
Janie refused and Josh made this lovely face.

Eight Lovely Weeks.

11/30/2007

Our little Meg was eight-weeks old yesterday and she celebrated with a stuffed up nose and a cough. The poor girl has been miserable all week, especially at night. She showed a little improvement today, so I’m hoping she’s turned the corner.

Knock on wood, but Meg slept for seven consecutive hours the past two nights. I’m sure this is due to the fact that we’ve been supplementing breastfeeding with a couple formula bottles each day, which tend to keep her full longer. It was certainly a nice surprise for me to realize that 6am rolled around without being woken!

Her two-month appointment is on Monday, but I can tell that Meg has gotten so long. She’s grown out of many of her preemie clothes, just because they are too short for her! I’m anxious to see how much weight she’s gained.

More than anything, Meg is becoming much more alert and interested in what’s going on around her. She loves us to hold her up so she can push her shoulders and head up to look around. We’ve even seen a couple glints of a smile, which is so exciting. I can’t wait until she is interacting with us more!

Random Thoughts.

11/30/2007

I’ve been trying to compile a post for a couple days now, but don’t have anything worthy of a full blown post. So, here’s all the random things that have been on my mind.

The smoke alarm in my kitchen is extremely sensitive and goes off every time I open the oven door. It’s getting really annoying.

I feel like I am half-doing everything in my life sometimes. If you look around my house right now, there are endless half-started (or maybe half-finished?) ventures. For instance, I went to feed Melo, the cat, today. I took out the cat food bin, fed her, heard Meg fussing, put the food bin on the counter, went to check on Meg. The bin is still on the counter. I need to work on this.

Josh has renewed his interest in Nintendo lately. The Power Glove came in the mail today.

Taking a Christmas card picture with a three-year old and a newborn is really challenging.

Both Josh and I need new windshields in our car. I think this is really annoying.

Josh and I are going to dinner before a Christmas party on Saturday night and I want to try somewhere new and delicious. There’s some really cute little restaurants in Madison Valley.

I made chicken and dumplings tonight and it came out really bland. We had friends over for dinner and the football game, so I was really bummed.

After watching the Packers play tonight, I have a little crush on Brett Farve.

In an effort to kick some more weight off, I am on a Starbucks ban, or at least a latte ban. I’m allowing myself one a week and am thinking that tomorrow is the day.

Janie is currently obsessed with the movie Aladdin. Although, she seems to think it is called “Little Allen.”

I know you are all on the edge of your seats reading this. Tomorrow, my grocery list.

What you've all been waiting for.

Note to reader- The names in this post have been changed in order to protect the guilty. Er, innocent. Unfortunately for them, people took pictures.

When Josh, Whitney and I decided it was a good idea to throw a wine party, I began to have visions of our friends, sipping on glasses (from Totally Tabletops, of course) of delicious wines and debating the differences between the ’98 and ’99 Paul Hobbs.
Here’s what happened in reality. In a very edited form.
The night started out innocent enough. Whit and I popped a bottle of champagne to get things going and the first guests (aka Anne) started arriving. Before we knew it, we were having a party. The new Britney cd was going, the bottles of wine were being popped open left and right, and Whitney was dancing. Oh yes, the party was that good- Whitney was dancing.
As night gave way to the wee-hours of the morning, our posh wine tasting party quickly became the last party I remember going to in high school (besides the fact that I was wearing a Baby Bjorn). People were passed out on the couch, someone (uh-hem) was locked in the bathroom, and we were all packed in the kitchen (probably the tiniest room in our house) singing and dancing our drunk hearts out to cheesy music.
Here are a few select (you can thank me later, Anne) pics from the night.

This picture really speaks a thousand words.
Whit, getting serious about the wine. And Jordan, with the wheat.
For some reason, Anne thought it would be a good idea to put Janie in this picture.
Blinded by the Baby Bjorn.
Argyle, in the bouncy seat. My favorite picture EVER.
I think my look says it all.

I had no idea the wheat would be so much fun.

If you know what these are, you know why I love them.

Princesses on Ice.

11/16/2007

Janie and I went to see Disney Princesses on Ice last night at the Key Arena and it was beyond amazing! I was expecting mediocre performances by washed up ex-ice skating champs, but those princesses have moves!!! Janie and I were in awe for the entire show.

Snow White is Janie’s absolute favorite princess and she had a hard time understanding why we couldn’t go meet her. I had to carry her out, kicking and screaming over my shoulder.

On the way home I had a major brainstorm and booked a weekend at Disneyland for January. We tried to make it down before Meg was born, but with moving, it never happened.

Enjoy the pictures!

Janie and I getting ready to go. Please excuse the pre-party arranging mess!
Janie with the biggest snow cone ever!

The grand finale- Cinderella’s carriage with fireworks!

All of the princes and princesses.

The hosts of the show- Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

The fire breathing dragon from Sleeping Beauty. Very scary!

PS- Check out an ironic post from my friend Jen. I have to say she is right! Those princesses did not have much on!!!

To-Do List.

11/15/2007

Remember the Post Secret craze?

Well, here’s a blog along the same lines that has recently become a book and I’m loving it!

You all know how list-obsessed I am. I probably actually waste more time making lists than actually accomplishing the things that I’ve listed.

To Do List is all about lists. Like the website and book cover say, “From buying milk to finding a soul mate, what our lists reveal about us.”

Hopefully I can make some realizations about my list making. Or at least learn some new list making tips from other crazed list-makers like me!

It's a Good Thing.

Totally Tabletops.

11/15/2007

As the party on Saturday looms closer, we are slowly getting things checked off the list.

I am a believer that the details make the party and although nobody else may notice the carefully chosen flowers, the candles lit in the appropriate places, or the garnish on the plates, I know that they are there and it makes me feel good.

A friend of a friend of a friend, and a fellow SPU graduate, runs an innovative company Totally Tabletops, which is on my current list of obsessions. Yes, there are some amazing and beautiful paper plates out there now, but why make the extra waste when you can rent them for about the same price??? Not interested in doing the dishes? You can even return them unwashed!

It was a tough decision. I was immediately drawn to the Midnight Globe Red Wine Glasses and went with the Green Fleur Appetizer Plates to compliment. Add in some plain black dinner plates to use as serving platters and we’re set!

I can’t wait to pick up my goods and see how they look with all our yummy food and wine!!!
