being everett. three years old.

everett-three

This little guy turns three today.

We’ve hit a few of Everett’s favorite places this morning — Starbucks for breakfast, the car wash and Target for a new Hot Wheels car. Tonight… out to dinner and a trip to U.Village to pick out a new fancy truck.

Everett reminds me so much of Meg at this age. He’s a mix of sweet and spicy — he can be perfectly easy-going one minute and horribly opinionated the next. Such is life with a three-year old, I suppose.

At three years old, Everett…

… is busy, but also loves to snuggle at the end of the day.

… still uses his blanket, Please, and a pacifier to go to sleep.

… is a fantastic sleeper and takes a two-hour nap every afternoon.

… goes to preschool two mornings a week, where he loves to draw.

… is interested in potty training. We’ll be conquering that over Spring Break in a few weeks.

… plays with trucks and only trucks. Cars are also acceptable. Trains every once in a while.

… loves his sisters fiercely and has mastered how to push their buttons.

… eats a good meal every few days.

… is sweet hearted, helpful at times and funny. Really, really funny.

… has a deep voice and a loud voice. He also does this cute little concerned/patronizing voice that he often times uses on his sisters to get what he wants.

… loves to hang out in the garage with Josh, take walks, go down the slide at the park, stomp in puddles and play in the backyard.

Happy birthday, sweet Everett James.
We would never be the family that we are today if you hadn’t decided that we needed you.
I would never be the mom, or the person, that I am today without you arrival pushing me in the direction I needed to go.
xoxo.

Take a look back: Pregnant with Ev, newborn, six-months old, one-year old, 18-months old,  two-years old.
