being allParenting.

Jessica Simpson gave birth to a baby yesterday. (Maxwell? Still coming to terms with that.)

I gave birth to a new website.

Well, actually, I did, along with a very talented and hard-working group of fellow writers and editors, all who have been working their asses off the past couple of months to bring this to life.

Meet our new baby… allParenting.

She was born yesterday and just like Maxwell, she is already a mini-celebrity. And very, very good-looking. (although, I haven’t seen a picture of Baby Maxwell yet. i predict a uni-brow.)

allParenting is going to be your new go-to website for parenting topics — it’s that website you check everyday for all things parenting, but with topics that are focused on your life as a mom… things to make your life as a mom better, easier and more fulfilling.

I am pleased to be a contributing writer on allParenting… I even have my own pretty profile page and pretty picture. (love to Jenni Sandmeyer Photography who is now my photography muse because she made me actually be photogenic. hello. it’s a miracle.)

 

Now, in lieu of sending me flowers to the hospital to say congrats, go visit allParenting, see my witty little profile and sign in to allParenting yourself. As you read articles on allParenting (which I’ll be shamelessly pimping out via Facebook, Twitter and here), your profile will slowly customize to the articles that you like to read. I don’t know how they do that. I’m guessing magic. You’re welcome to go ahead and read all 13 of the articles I’ve already written for allParenting and if that’s not enough, I think there are at least another dozen waiting in the wings to be posted in the coming weeks…

being the best of 2011. x8.

I know we are all trying to put 2011 behind us, but one more thing before we jump head first into 2012… Then, I promise, I’ll shut up about it all.

I’m proud to say that some of my articles and contributions have made Best of 2011 lists this year. It was just about this time last year that I booked my first freelance job with Red Tricycle and I began contributing as the Seattle Scout for Stroller Traffic soon after. I hold both places near and dear to my heart, so these are happy moments for me.

being self-pimping. the monday morning edition.

I’ve been meaning to post my latest articles for a couple of weeks now, but I keep finding more exciting things to write about. Like nailpolish. (ps. i’m currently wearing Gloria on my toenails and loving it!)

So, sorry in advance for the complete dump of articles for you to read (because you will read them all, right? and share them on Facebook and Twitter and on the bulletin board at your kid’s school and maybe even print them out and post them on the inside of your car windows so that people you park next to in traffic can read them as well? right?).

But seriously. Leaving comments, rating the articles with five pretty yellow stars and sharing them on Facebook does help me a lot (it’s a bit like my report card back to my editors), so if an article speaks to you, I would certainly appreciate the love. (thank you.)

Happy Friday, everyone!

What are you doing this weekend? Here’s my to-do list (because you care, right?) — organize my desk, fold piles and piles of laundry, order contacts, finish reading The Bird Sisters, mail Jacob’s birthday present, take 10-on-1o pictures, do some more spring weeding in our front yard, clean the couches, organize some kid clothes to be sold, watch a movie & catch-up on our TiVo list, finish and mail Christmas/my birthday/Ev’s birthday thank you notes (I know, I know, CHRISTMAS!), clean out my email inbox (187 is too many), see Lauren, plan fun Spring Break activities.

being my newest freelance gig. dealpop.

Hey all.

I feel like it’s been a heavy week as far as blog content around here, so let’s lighten things up a bit, shall we!

Let me introduce you to my newest freelancing gig with DealPop.

If you aren’t in the know, DealPop is a fun company that offers a special discounted deal in your city each and every day — you can find DealPop in Seattle (naturally…), LA, Boston, South Bay Area of San Francisco, Denver and occationally deals that reach nationwide. The idea behind it is to give you deals at the places that are already your neighborhood faves — I love the way they support small, local businesses and truly attempt to feature the best of what these cities have to offer — including my very own Seattle (where they are headquartered).

They approached me to write for their blog and I was thrilled — I must admit that I didn’t know DealPop had a blog, but fell instantly in love with their headline — Making the most of city life. Love that. And, kinda jealous that I didn’t come up with that little diddy myself!

My first contribution is up today — a bit about Spring Fever in Seattle, which is an epidemic in the city right now.

being my very first business cards.

Today is a monumental day.

Besides the fact that it is the last day of my 20s (hold me.), it is also the day that all of this writing business stuff becomes very real.

Meet my very first business cards.

On top of that, I was just asked to do some freelancing for a very fun company, I am meeting with yet another fun company tomorrow to share ideas and have a couple other big prospects on the horizon as well.

Life is moving fast and furious right now and to be honest, my head is spinning a bit. But in a good way. It’s a happy spin. Kinda like that sweet spot between being buzzed and being drunk. You know, just before you start confessing your love for everyone you’ve ever met and spilling your Pinot on your shoes.
