Any American who fails to see the impeccable, deliberate timing of this interview fails to understand the “ace in the hole” strategy of every politician playing the game – partisan beliefs aside.

An issue as important as this one – which maybe wasn’t an electable issue when Bush was in office, but certainly is now – required thought, a stance and a plan prior to his first campaign in ’07. It’s shameful to see it used as a hail-mary in an election year. Same-sex couples are remiss in praising him for something which, if sincere and authentic, should have been “out of the closet” in his first campaign.

It’s been said before that there’s zero correlation between being the best talker and having the best ideas, and I’d say that adage certainly applies here. I didn’t vote for him the first time, and I’m not changing my mind the second time.
